Borrowed the money to get reconnected. I’ll either use it for a month to sell my stuff and move away from the midwest, or I’ll be able to pay for it if I get the job for which I just interviewed. I’m a little surprised at the speeds, with the download speed exceeding the expected 100 Mbps, but the upload speed seemingly not having increased in the 18 years I’ve had cable modems.
No more driving several miles for a decent connection (the nearby libraries are 1.5 Mbps, whereas the one 8 miles away is 45 Mbps). Bye bye productivity! Bye bye hard drive space!

What dark gods did you have to sacrifice your firstborn to get these speeds?

To be honest, 100 Mbps is the only speed they offer. I could live with less, but they didn’t give me any choice to pay less for less. It’s a cable modem, so when all of my neighbors are sucking up their share of the bandwidth I probably won’t have speeds like this. Perhaps I’ll start checking daily and do a graph of the results.

It’s all about speed.

Daaaaaaaaaamn...
I’m assuming that kind of speed costs a little more than $60/mo.

Yeah, it’s a slight downgrade from the gigabit we used to have at the other building. (the computer it’s attached to ain’t bad either)

What darker gods did you have to sacrifice your entire family to get those speeds?

Cable modems get their configurations pushed periodically and that’ll probably throttle you down.
